The Azerbaijani Hərbi Xəbərlər və Məlumatlar Facebook account claimed in a post dated October 30 that the Berdzor hospital is being used for military purposes.
This Facebook account is affiliated with the Government of Azerbaijan.
Human Rights Defender of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan stated this on his Twitter page, noting that the misinformation may be a preparation for hitting the hospital.
The “Hərbi Xəbərlər və Məlumatlar” fb page, affiliated with #Azerbaijan Govt on mil matters, published some unrelated photos & claimed that Berdzor (Lachin) hospital is used for mil purposes.
It’s quite false & could be a preparation for striking this hospital, too.#DontBeBlind pic.twitter.com/0FbL0OzoHP— Artak Beglaryan (@Artak_Beglaryan) October 30, 2020
The journalists of the Fact Investigation Platform visited the Kashatagh Region Medical Association of Artsakh to find out whether the information on the Azerbaijani account is grounded.
In an interview with Fip.am, the executive director of the medical association Karen Grigoryan denied the information, noting that the medical institution serves the civilian population only. “It is not used for military purposes in any way, and the information is false.”
It should be noted that while walking around the hospital, our journalists did not notice anything that would indicate to the medical institution serving military purposes.
Thus, the Facebook account Hərbi Xəbərlər və Məlumatlar spreads false information, as Berdzor Hospital is not used for military purposes.
