Russian propaganda even spreads lies about a robot

18:55, 26 Jan, 2018

The most famous human-like female robot in the world, Sofia, has appeared in the spotlight of the Russian media. It should be noted that Sofia was also present at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and she participated in a number of meetings.

During the meeting at “Ukraine House” pavilion at Davos, where Sofia the robot was also present, the journalist from the Ukrainian “1+1” TV channel directed a question to Sofia instead of the event organizers. Sofia did not answer the question which referred to corruption in Ukraine (watch from 40th minute).

One of the organizers explained that Sofia can work in the conversational mode and answer any question. However, at that moment, she was set on a different mode. It is worth mentioning that the robot was silent during the whole course of the meeting.

However, the Russian media provided a completely different interpretation of the incident.

Thus, “Russia 24” TV channel reports that robot Sofia’s processor and the script went out of order after hearing the question about corruption in Ukraine. Another media outlet reported that the robot completely went out of order, and another reported that the robot got “stuck”, and etc.

In reality, as it can be seen in the video, nothing happens to Sofia, and she continues to operate smoothly.

We should note that this fake information was widely disseminated on the Internet. Even a Ukrainian MP, Alyona Schkrum, wrote on her Facebook page about Sofia’s “falling out”. However, the information was refuted in the comments to the post.
