FIP.am (Fact Investigation Platform) is an independent fact-checking media, which was founded by “Union of Informed Citizens” consulting NGO with the support of the Open Society Foundations – Armenia․
FIP.am is the leading fact-checking website in Armenia.
The main goal of FIP.am is to disclose the information published by officials, official bodies and the media which is not true.
While preparing the materials our reporters adhere to the rules of journalism ethics as well as the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. We do not represent interests of any political party or other group.
Prevention of the dissemination of obvious disinformation is a top priority for our journalists.
By dissemination of information our team will not promote, incite or justify aggressive wars, human rights abuses, crimes against humanity or nature.
FIP.am does not publish material that violates people’s privacy or the right to dignity.
The Union of Informed Citizens is the parent organization of the FIP. The “Our Organisation” section on UIC’s website mentions that the Union of Informed Citizens is a non-governmental organization, which aims at raising public awareness regarding important issues. We intend to minimize misinformation and its impact on shaping public opinion and decision-making.

UIC publicly lists sources of funding for each project, including the projects that fund FIP, on its web page and donors. FIP places the badges of the project donor organizations on its website.
The functions of the staff are as follows:
The editor-in-chief edits the articles of the Fact Investigation Platform, searches, collects information, prepares publications and coordinates the work of the Fact Investigation Platform.
The editor edits the articles and videos of the Fact Investigation Platform.
The journalist carries out daily monitoring of the media, highlights the main propaganda provisions, checks the suspicious facts revealed by the monitoring activity and writes relevant articles. If necessary, the journalist also creates the visual part of the article (infographics, videos, explainers, etc.).
The media monitoring specialist follows the news on a daily basis, the content offered by the online press and television. He/she identifies suspicious, manipulative, allegedly fake or fake information and forwards it to fact-checking journalists. The responsibilities of the media monitoring specialist also include supporting journalists during the preparation of articles by collecting necessary information and materials for them.
Our Team

Hakob Karapetyan
Hakob has been engaged in journalism since 2010. His professional experience covers online media and TV, he’s worked at First Channel (Public TV) of Armenia as a journalist and editor, then served as Press Secretary for Yerevan City Hall. Hakob has been working in the FIP as the editor-in-chief since January 2022. He got a BA in International Relations at Yerevan State University. Now he is a Fellow in the U.S. State Department’s Hubert Humphrey Fulbright Exchange Program.

Nane Manasyan
Nane Manasyan has graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Yerevan State University. She received her Master’s Degree from the Department of Turkish Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. She has been engaged in Journalism since 2014, working in the “Lratvakan” Radio, PanARMENIAN.Net website, “Yerkir Media” and Armenia TVs. Ms. Manasyan has been Chief Secretary of the federation in 2017-2019. She has been working in the Union of Informed Citizens NGO as a media monitoring expert since 2019. She has been working as a journalist at the Fact Investigation Platform since September 2021.
