About 8800 families in Armenia have been deprived of family benefits since 2018

14:24, 4 Mar, 2020

Governor of Gegharkunik Province Gnel Sanosyan told reporters on February 20 that 983 families in the region had been deprived of “Paros” system benefits.

“Justice has been restored in the province, people with jeeps and castles have been deprived of Paros” he said, adding that the region has 12,000 beneficiary families.

Then Governor of Ararat Province Garik Sargsyan announced that more than 1000 beneficiaries who have shops, good houses, cars would no longer receive social benefits. “After 2017, in 2018 and 2019, 1027 beneficiaries in Ararat province were removed from the lists “ he said.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia notes that the reduction of the number of beneficiary families is the result of identifying problems in the system of family vulnerability assessment, as well as increasing the targeting and effectiveness of the system.

Fip.am tried to find out how much the number of families receiving social benefits has decreased in the republic compared to 2018.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, an average of 95,516 families received social benefits in Armenia in 2018. In 2019, the average number of families receiving social benefits dropped to 86,757, and as of 2020 there are 86,726 families receiving social benefits.

That is to say, after 2018, a total of about 8,800 families in Armenia have been deprived of social benefits.

By the way, the number of families receiving social benefits has decreased in all regions, except for Armavir region, where the number of beneficiary families has increased by 209 after 2018.

It should be noted that the state budget of 2020 allocated 37 billion 227 million AMD for social benefits through the Paros system, and the average monthly allowance is 31,350 AMD.
