Lies of “Yedinaya Rossiya” in Yerevan

13:16, 1 Dec, 2017

On November 28, a meeting took place between the delegation of Russia’s ruling “Yedinaya Rossiya” party and the representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia.  During the meeting with the journalists, Sergei Jeleznyak, deputy secretary of the Supreme Council of Yedinaya Rossiya also commented on the signing of the new cooperation agreement between the EU and Armenia.

“As a sovereign state, Armenia has all the bases, rights and opportunities to realize its potential both in Russia and EU related fields. Especially if we consider that the document clearly states that agreements with the European side cannot change the commitments and agreements that Armenia already has”, Jeleznyak stated.

However, there is no provision in the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed between Armenia and the EU in Brussels on November 24 according to which Armenia is obliged to keep its previous commitments unmodified.  Hence, Jeleznyak’s statement is disinformation. This fake news has been republished by numerous Armenian media outlets.

Besides, the Russian official touched upon the statements made earlier by Russian media, according to which Armenia is glorifying the “accomplices of fascism”.  Jeleznyak said that the official opinion, rather than that of the individual persons counts.

It is worth reminding that Veronika Krasheninnikova, who accused Yerevan of “glorifying the accomplices of fascism” during “Zvezda” TV station  broadcast, is member of Supreme Council of “Yedinaya Rossiya” Party.

The topic of Armenia glorifying accomplices of fascism has also been touched upon by public figure Sergei Markov. Earlier SUT.am had written that Markov had made a statement about “making accomplices of nationalism celebrated in Armenia”. Markov addressed the same topic during the “Meeting Point” program of Russian NTV TV station that contained a number of pieces of disinformation about Armenia [from 9:55].

“[In Armenia], there are attempts to meddle in the internal affairs of Russia, exert pressure on Russian TV stations so that the latter do not call Njdeh a nationalist criminal in spite of the fact that Njdeh said that who dies for Germany, dies for Armenia”, Markov stated.

It is noteworthy that Sergey Markov is also member of “Yedinaya Rossiya” Party. Moreover, he was a Russian State Duma deputy from the same party in 2007-2011.

Thus, immediately before and after the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia, different representatives of the ruling “Yedinaya Rossiya” Party spread false information from different platforms about the agreement and Armenia in general. And as the information attack obviously cannot be random in nature, we can claim that we are hearing the official position of Moscow through the lips of the members of the ruling party.
