Domestic Violence Laws in EAEU Countries

Recently, during discussions of the law on prevention of domestic violence, different organizations and individuals conclude that it is imposed by the European Union and the USA. Let us see if such laws function only in the countries of the West or they can be found in EAEU countries as well.
Thus, the “Law on the Principles of Crime Prevention Activities” was enacted in Belarus in 2014, which allows to temporarily remove the citizen who has committed an act of violence in the family from the same residence with the victim. After the law entered into force the cases of severe damage to health in Belarus considerably reduced.
The Law on Domestic Violence in Kazakhstan was adopted in 2009. And in Kyrgyzstan, which is considered a relatively more democratic country, a similar law (Law on Social and Legal Protection from Domestic Violence) was adopted in 2003.
There is no adopted law in Russia but it is a long time they have had a bill on Prevention of Domestic Violence, around which there are public debates. In 2014, Vladimir Putin discussed this bill with his adviser. It has been reported to Putin that the Kazakh example shows that the adoption of the law reduces the level of domestic violence by 40%.
Some organizations in Russia qualify the adoption of this law as a legal basis for “killing” of the family. Meanwhile, there are numerous publications about the real “genocide” taking place in Russian families. In particular, 40% of grave crimes in Russia take place in families.
And while the adoption of the law in Armenia is being connected with compulsion by the West, we see that such laws were adopted in EAEU countries much earlier and it is very unlikely that the West would ever be able to make Putin discuss that law and organize hearings in the Russian State Duma.
