The Media Outlet Disappoints the Tajik Migrants

During Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to Tajikistan on February 28th some of the media began to actively circulate the article titled “Putin allowed the return of 200 thousand Tajik migrants to Russia.”

This information had already appeared in press on the evening of February 27th. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov announced  that as a result of high-level talks in Dushanbe, more than 200 thousand Tajik migrants will be allowed to enter Russia. He also noted: “These are the migrants, who are more than 200 thousand: they that did not leave Russia unintentionally, regardless of their reasons, did not commit any administrative offense and were not involved in any illegal activities. ”

But immediately after Putin’s visit these same media started reporting that the amnesty applies to only 35% of those 200 thousand labor migrants.

According to a labor migration expert, right after Putin’s visit, those Tajik citizens that did not have right to enter Russia, started packing their suitcases. However, after analyzing the Russian Deputy Prime Minister’s words, the migration expert is convinced that only 70 thousand out of 200 thousand Tajik labor migrants can meet the necessary requirements to enter Russia.

Thus, we can clearly state that during Putin’s visit, some media were deliberately spreading news with misleading headlines.
