During the October 23 release of the “Puppets of the Heir Tutti” TV program on the Russian Channel One, referring to Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and his political activities, dozens of false and manipulative statements were made, which the Fact Investigation Platform has already referred to in an extensive article.
FIP.am also revealed remarkable details about the public activities of some of the speakers of the show.
Oleg Barabanov: The pro-Azerbaijani speaker
During the aforementioned talk show on the Russian “First Channel”, Oleg Barabanov, who is a professor at the Moscow State University of International Relations, and the director of the Valdai Club, also stood out with false and manipulative claims.
In November 2021, at the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Barabanov participated in the conference “Issues with Establishing Peace in the Caucasus”. It was held in Shushi, which came under Azerbaijani control as a result of the war in 2020.
In his comments to the Azerbaijani media, Barabanov accused the Armenians of “turning the once flourishing Shusha into ruins”, which “a bright future awaits after liberation” by Aliyev.
“Unfortunately, there has been a lot of destruction in the last 30 years, but large-scale construction works are ongoing, a great road has been built, infrastructure is being developed… The efforts of the leadership of the country (Azerbaijan – Ed.) will allow Shusha and other liberated cities to be brought back to life in a very short time,” Barabanov said. |
FIP.am identified many other examples of Barabanov’s anti-Armenian public speech. Thus, in June 2022, at the meeting of the “Moscow-Baku” platform, Barabanov stated: “Karabakh is Azerbaijan” and “the Russian Federation recognizes it as part of Azerbaijan.”
Azerbaijanis should return to “Western Azerbaijan”
Another speaker, political analyst Alexander Artamonov, is a member of the “Russian-Azerbaijani Expert Community” and is also known for serving the pro-Azerbaijani propaganda.
Artamonov: “Whatever happens, it is obvious that until the eight border villages in Zangezur are returned to Azerbaijan and the Western Azerbaijanis return to their ancestral lands, it is useless to talk about peace.” The expert also emphasizes Azerbaijan as a reliable strategic ally of the Russian Federation, and presents the country as a constructive party in the regulation of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. |
Thus, experts serving Azerbaijani propaganda in the Russian information domain took part in the talk show against Armenia on the the Russian Channel One.
