Online Fake Videos about the Prosperous Armenia Party

After the revolution, there was a sharp increase in the number of fake users and news pages on the Internet. They are mainly media or political pages. The latter are not restricted by either the Law on the Mass Media or the journalistic ethics, as a result of which the disinformation and manipulation on the Internet has increased dramatically.

One of the sources of fake information is the “Hayastan” Facebook page, which has recently targeted the Prosperous Armenia Party, distributing videos that have nothing to do with the latter.

In particular, it is about the cases of distribution of election bribes published by Radio Liberty on the day of the constitutional referendum in 2015. The sensational video is now spread on the Internet under the headline “The Prosperous Armenia Party Distributing Election Bribes”.

“How the PAP distributes election bribes. Share and let everyone see Naira Zohrabyan’s real face. Spread this video, dear people” the video says. The video has already been viewed by more than 400,000 people.

And although many in the comments urged not to succumb to the provocation, saying that it was an old video, we can clearly state that the disinformation was widely spread. More than 20,000 users have shared the video.
