The Episodic Activity of a Pro-Kremlin Propaganda Page

13:44, 20 Oct, 2022

About a month ago, a Facebook page named Bright future spreading clearly anti-Western, pro-Russian content with advertisements, whose materials were sponsored, became noticed on Facebook.

At first glance, one could get the impression that the page has Georgian affiliation as there was one post in Georgian on that page.

Our partners at Media.am revealed through an open source investigation that the page has not Georgian, but Russian affiliation. In the “transparency” section of the page, the former name of the page was mentioned: rsgov, and in the “Mentions” section, there were three publications in which the Bright future page was mentioned under its former name, rsgov. The author of all three publications was the official page of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Rostov-on-Don.

During the study, no information about the location of the page administrators was found in the “transparency” section. In case of Facebook pages, this section usually states which country or countries the page administrators are from, how many people there are, etc.

The page has reactivated pro-Kremlin propaganda

Since yesterday, the activity of this page has been spotted again on Facebook. This time, as in the previous case, the page carries out anti-Western propaganda.

In the photos it can be seen that the page currently has about 19 active ads and the vast majority of them were activated on October 19.

The content of all of them is propaganda and has the same orientation.

In the “transparency” section of the Facebook page, it is already indicated from where the page is managed. It has one admin and is managed from Belarus.

Thus, the page targeting the Armenian audience and carrying out anti-Western propaganda has Russian affiliation and is managed from Belarus.
