Official Moscow declares that the armed forces of Ukraine have created concentration camps in the Kursk region, in which they keep the Russian population, but it does not bring any evidence of this.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, declared about the existence of the concentration camp created by Ukrainians in Kursk on September 20, during weekly briefings. “The Russian Federation has concrete proofs of the creation of concentration camps in the Kursk region by the Ukrainian armed forces, in which local residents are kept.”
According to her, the Russian law enforcement officers receive information and evidence that the Ukrainian “banderites” forcibly moved the residents who did not manage to evacuate to the border.
“That, I should remind you, is a typical behavior of the Nazi occupiers. Do you remember how they captured the Soviet people and enslaved them?” It is the same writing. We have many pieces of evidence collected by the RF Red Cross. In fact, we also have concrete evidence of the Ukrainian armed forces creating a place similar to a concentration camp in Kursk, where they place the population that could not evacuate for various reasons under the threat of machine guns,” Zakharova stated.
Prior to this statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry drafted a report containing a mention of it. The report was provided to the Russian state “RIA-Novosti” agency which also made a publication about it.
Apti Alaudinov, the Commander of the “Akhmat” special unit, built up on the same topic on the air of Soloviev Live. Moreover, he stated that there are videos and photos of it.
However, it is noteworthy that there is no video or photo evidence of this statement from Russian official circles on the channels of Russian state propagandists or military bloggers.
The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) has stated that the official sources of the Russian Federation are spreading false information, declaring about the existence of a concentration camp in the Kursk region. “In fact, the circulation of this obviously false information is necessary for the Kremlin to distract the public from the so-called filtration camps created by the Russian armed forces in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The Russians intimidate the Ukrainian people using the filtration measures. People who do not pass the filtration end up in Russian prisons and are exposed to torture,” the statement released by CCD reads.
Detector Media, which verifies and documents the information spread by the Kremlin about the Russian-Ukrainian war, also considered the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry and, in particular, Maria Zakharova, about the concentration camps to be fake.
Thus, the statements of Russian official sources about the creation of concentration camps by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region are not substantiated by publicly visible evidence. The Russian armed forces could perhaps use drones to film these camps and present videos, photographs or other evidence as proofs.
